If I Were a Betting Man

If I were a betting man, and I’m generally not, I’d take actions that will support the changes I’d like to see over the long term.  Vegas is out! 

OK.  How is this relevant to leadership development and the learning strategy we set and wish others?

It seems exceptionally relevant to me as I participate in the marketplace with functional HR & OD leaders, business owners and executives.  I see the decisions they make, those they delay, and those they delegate to others.

 

Adapting to the Changing Seasons of Business

Summer has long gone and the season of fall is quickly eclipsing into the colder months we know are coming - I’m not ready to say the “W” word just yet.  I do live in Wisconsin after all; it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. 

I’ve come to visit friends that I known for thirty plus years and see on occasion.  Some still live in Manitowoc, and the rest of us travel from other places.  Having arrived early, I find this a quiet time to reflect on the memories I shared with friends many years ago. 

 

The Magic of Merlin

I was recently invited to join other business owners in an entrepreneurial mentoring process - MERLIN mentors.  The Madison Entrepreneur Resource, Learning and Innovation Network (MERLIN) is a Madison-based corp of volunteers who have masterfully started and managed new ventures. These mentors use their skills, experience and enthusiasm to guide emerging entrepreneurs in early stage ventures to boost the potential of business success.

Similar to my participation as a judge and mentor for the Governor’s Business Plan Contest, it’s my turn to ante up.  I was compelled to share and believe in the future of this initiative for a variety of reasons -
