Cathy Durham, President, Capital Valuation Group

Most business owners do not have an accurate number in mind when thinking about the value of their business.  Not only is the valuation and sale of businesses complex, but there is a significant amount of misinformation about the business valuation process. Owners are given different formulas to apply to the company’s financial statements, but completely miss the qualitative factors that will increase or decrease your company’s value.

Let us show you how a business is actually valued and how buyers look at prospective businesses to purchase.  You will leave with tangible strategies you can implement immediately for increasing the value of your business while also gaining an understanding of the drivers of value.  Your business is likely your most valuable asset – join us to better understand how to better manage that asset as an investment.

As a result of your participation, you can expect the following deliverables:

  • Identify how to increase the value of your business, whether you are planning to sell or not
  • Position your business for sale at the highest value
  • Comprehend why every business has more than one value
  • Understand the buyer’s perspective in valuation
  • Determine the best time to sell your business

About The Capital Valuation Group, Madison, Wisconsin:

Business Valuation

Since 1974, Capital Valuation Group has valued thousands of closely held businesses across a wide range of industries, from start-up companies to large, established companies doing business internationally. We are able to provide an independent, objective perspective because our firm does not provide accounting or other financial services to our clients—we specialize in business valuation and have for 45 years.

Business Litigation

Our staff is also experienced at determining damages to a business and testifying for plaintiff or defendant in federal and state courts, and we have the communication skills to explain complex issues to judges and jurors. We are asked annually to teach to judges, attorneys, and business owners because of our years of experience specializing in business valuation and litigation support.

Business Trend Analysis

In 2019 our firm debuted our Business Trend Analysis (BTA) software. The BTA is a powerful online tool that decodes a business’s financial statements and provides actionable insights about performance trends. Combined with industry benchmarks, the BTA helps business owners actually use their financial statements to manage their business and increase value.
